President's Message - November 2018
by Rick Barker, Director of Facilities, Sutter Roseville Medical Center; CSHE State President
Every two years when the current CSHE State President completes his term, the board of directors meets to review and update the next two years with a Strategic Plan. This year Devin Hugie, currently serving as the CSHE State Vice President, led the board of director through this process. These meetings were divided into two regional seminars before the Southern CA seminar on September 13 and Northern CA seminar on October 18. The board reviewed the previous sessions held in 2016 and looked at the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities that we have as an organization. CSHE remains strong as the trusted authority for healthcare engineering advising on both the state and national levels. One opportunity is creating a better advocacy structure. The other opportunities that were identified ranged across several areas such as education, advocacy, and technology. The Strategic Plan and the associated initiatives will be released early next year. The essence of the plan will be centered on how CSHE can better support and add value to the members.
The CSHE Executive Board would like to hear from you if you have any specific recommendations or suggestions. Feel free to reach out to any of the executive board members or the state office to provide your feedback.
I would like to take this time and update you on our plans of reaching out to the membership through social media. At this date and time we have not used our resources to the best of our abilities. Social media is a great platform to bring new members in and update current members on new information, upcoming events, and tools to help each of you grow in your workplace.
It is our intent to share with the membership what CSHE is about and also to market to those new in the industry. We have recently teamed up with a professional whose sole purpose is to create an active and engaging presence across the board of social media. Soon you will be able to access our accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Snapchat. We ask for your participation and support with the marketing efforts by following our profiles and also by sharing and liking our posts.
We are fortunate for these tools that can help grow CSHE and we look forward to our future. Thank you for your continued support and participation in the California Society for Healthcare Engineering, Inc. (CSHE)!
