Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California, the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury and pediatric subspecialties medical center is looking for a highly motivated individual with previous supervisory experience to fill this leadership role in Facilities, Safety & Security.

The successful candidate will plan, direct and manage the day-to-day activities of the Engineering, Security/Reception and Safety department, and assure compliance with pertinent federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes related to Facilities Management, Safety and Security.

Must have the ability to troubleshoot, repair, regulate and control electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilating systems and portable equipment; read and comprehend schematics, blue prints and shop drawings; and accurately determine time and materials required for a job. Requires knowledge of electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and ventilating systems, safe operation and repairs and the ability to supervise staff effectively and with consistency.

Must possess a Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certificate (CFC license), working knowledge of Title 22 requirements for healthcare, as well as an understanding of federal regulations, local ordinances and hospital rules for compliance with environmental standards set by Federal, State and local agencies with authority over Hospital buildings. Prefer 10 years of institutional employment as a maintenance engineer, preferably in a hospital setting, completion of Certified Health Care Senior Mechanic certification issued by California Society for Healthcare Engineering (CSHE), and completion of an accredited apprenticeship program.
